Yep.. mammy tax.

Dd is 6months and tried some the other day. It was a dairy free one because of her cmpa, but still awfully unhealthy. It's hardly the end of the world though is it? She hasn't got any teeth yet, but she enjoyed it and is back to eating normal food again. I wouldn't have given her a whole one though!

Carsandtrucks I like your style!

My daughter will believe me when I say she only got one egg, right?

3 months far too young, gut isn't developed completely hence weaning at 6 months!

A small amount from 6 months perfectly fine, I've just got to stop all relatives giving my dd (2) continuous chocolate all weekend. And I'm the one (and the less diplomatic dh!) who will get all the looks of "isn't she cruel to not let her dd drown in chocolate" er actually no I'm not!!!!! Envy

I tried DD (17 mo) on chocolate a few weeks back and she just kept holding out her choccy smeared hands and saying "dirty, dirty"

didn't seem to want the chocolate at all (normally she eats everything)

not quite the reaction I expected!

I would have said that there's a sliding scale, based on how desperate the parent is to eat the easter egg for the child. I am wondering whether my dses are old enough for that much chocolate (at 16, 18 and 20) or whether I should selflessly eat it for them!

TBH DD (2 years) won't be getting any of hers! We'll be politely thanking the giver, 'popping them away for later' and eating them ourselves when she's in bed!

IMO kids have their whole lives to gorge on sugary crap and while I've got some control I'm delaying it as long as possible. Once she has a concept of Easter eggs and starts complaining she's missing out and other kids are having them in front of her she might get a ration of egg while 'sharing' it with us - that will prob be next year when she's 3.

I was very against chocolate when DS1 was under 2, but now he's 3 and we have 1yo DS and there is no way DS2 will see his brother eat chocolate and not want any himself. We'll give them little bits each. I dislike the whole focus on chocolate for easter. When I was little (in Holland) we boiled eggs, painted them and ate those for Easter!

PFB - 3 was too young

Subsequent children - if they can get the foil off, it's theirs
