First school trip

Hi,

My DS is at nursery (he's 4) and came home the Friday before the holidays with a letter regarding a day out at a safari park next month.

I feel nervous about letting him go, the letter states they would have to wear school uniform so I know they'd all be identifiable (he has his name ironed on his clothes)

I've not had chance to speak to the nursery re: adult to child ratio, but am I being really PFB if I feel uneasy about letting him go?!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I helped out on a nursery trip once. We had one adult for every two children - so effectively one in each hand! It was fine and the children had a fantastic time. Trips are usually harder for parents. Dd2 is in the US on a trip this week. She's 15 and although she was nervous about it it's definitely me who is the most concerned :)

You're not being pfb to feel uneasy, but you might be if you actually didn't let him go. The ratios and risk assessments will be massive, I know it's something like one adult to four or five reception children so nursery will be higher than that. DD's nursery took them on a trip to see Santa and that was the baby room! You have to trust the adults. Everything will be fine and he'll have a great time.

I remember going away for 5 days when I was 9 with primary school to the Isle of Wight, I can imagine my parents felt the same!

That's reassuring tofollowjulie & citrusyone thanks! Grin

I would have offered to chaperone as it's on a day I don't normally work, however DC2 is due in 2 weeks, so that's not going to happen, plus he'd probably play up more for me!

Well if you're pregnant then you can blame hormones for how you feel then!
