Best sun cream?

My 4mo burned a teeny bit in the sun today :-(, in 15 minutes. I didn't have sun cream with me but found when I got home that last year's is nearly empty.

Need a new one! Have a 5yo as well and wondering which is a good cream to cover both boys. Hate the really thick creams and need SPF high as we are quite pale but not ginger-pale.

Can anyone recommend one that is nice to apply (prefer sprays), not too sticky/greasy and is long-lasting?

The Ego Sunsense range is the best around. It's an Australian brand and Aussie sunscreens are far better than the ones made here. Try the toddler milk and remember, you're meant to leave a light layer of sunscreen on the skin and let it absorb. Don't rub it all in.

Pro-derm Sun Mousse (or it might just be called Sun Mousse now).

Amazing stuff-goes on like hair mousse and isn't sticky at all.

We used it in Dubai in 40 degree heat and non of us burnt.

Its really good for sensitive skin as well.

I recommend Jason's. It's not a spray but not greasy and smells lovely, and no nasty chemicals in it so fab for sensitive skin. I used it on my dd who has eczema and on dd2 aswell. Worked beautifully.

SunSense. Brilliant, easy to put on (light).

Hands down, Banana boat powder-dri is the best sun lotion we have ever used.
It's a lotion, not a spray, but is really easy to apply and once it's dry (within a minute or two) you wouldn't even know it was on it's so light on the skin, but provides excellent protection.
Our two get prickly heat when wearing other sun lotions because they're so claggy, but have never had that or burned with this.

you arent supposed to use suncream on 4m olds as they arent supposed to be in direct sunlight. Most baby suncreams say they are from 6 months so I would get a specific baby one if you do use it.

I find the Boots One Lotion to be really good. DS hates having lotion put on so sometimes I only manage to do it once a day - wtih this stuff he never burnt at all/

Yy to Boots 'Once' lotion especially the water play version, it's amazing one application does last for hours even in the water. It's quite pricy but because you only apply it once you don't need anywhere as much as usual creams. It's also brilliant for applying before school in the summer as it lasts all day so no worries about cream being no use at lunchtime.

I'd be very wary of the 8hr ones especially on a young baby. Thy are very strong and many children I know including dd have had a reaction to it.

I really wouldn't advise it in a baby.

Sunsense toddler milk is great, the roll on is especially useful for little ones.

I also use the ultrasun 50+ sensitive all day cream for holidays. Really great. Even used on my dd last year at 7m and she has eczema and a dreadfully sensitive skin.

Agree though that nothing will suit a 4m baby. You just need to keep them out of the sun. This is really useful.

Thanks all. I bought Sunsense and love it for my 5yo. And bought a UV tent so that Baby doesn't get any more sun. Worrie about the minor sunburn though. :-( he went a little red on one cheek and it peeled ever so slightly. It never hurt him or looked painful. But still. :-(
