My poor ds fractured his femur and is one week into wearing his hip spica. We have another 3-4 wks to go! He sits in a beanbag chair with a little table, so activities are limited. We do puzzles, threading, dough, drawing, painting, stickers, mega sketcher, orchard games, duplo, dominoes. Anything else table based?! His concentration is obviously quite short, so we get through many activities in just an hour. Thank you.

Can you make some biscuit dough & let him use cookie cutters & roll them out etc. The tubes of ready made icing can be used by little ones and he could decorate them once they are baked. You can buy ready to bake cookie dough in the chilled cabinets if you aren't into cooking or just let him decorate digestives. Have you got any magic paint books? The ones which you just paint with clear water & the pictures come out in colour. What about one of those boards with different shapes & little nails & a hammer? My son loved those & peg boards.

I was going to suggest cooking. If you have equipment that can be brought to his table?

How about making and decorating his own photo album (say in a scrapbook) if you print off a load of photos first? My 2 year old loves looking at himself!

Have you been loaned a suitable buggy? If so, get out of the house!!

Bags of lentils, a sandbox, and different sand box toys, cups, pouring stuff.

Gloop. Add a bit of coloring, hey presto, coloured gloop. Fascinating stuff, can play for hours.

I had a two year old that wasn't mobile (and a three year old lol.) I suggest you google fine motor skills stuff for toddlers. Hours and hours and hours and hours and hours of endless ideas.

Tea parties.
Pennies.
Pegs (clothes pegs and a cardboard box)
Peg boards

Cup games with things hidden underneath
Magic story bags with toys in - he puts his hand in and pulls out surprise toys for stories

And find your local toy library. Borrow new stuff every day to reduce boredom levels!!!

Thank you, lots of really good ideas there. Will try some out today. Luckily he still fits in our usual buggy so we can get out for walks. I would go crazy otherwise, especially as my youngest is only 9 wks and not keen on daytime naps unless we are out.
