When do you stop burping baby?

I forgot with my older one...even though she is only just two! Lol. When do you stop needing to burp? I have a five month old and he used to be real easy to burp...but as he gets older its more difficult and he sometimes just burps when sitting on our lap. Does this mean he is ready to burp on his own and we can stop trying to burp him after each feed?

I just did the 11pm feed. He didn't burp and went back to sleep just fine.

I stopped when they became more independently mobile, I figured their own movement would solve the problem.

About 6 months, I think.

Blush I think I stopped around 3 months.

I think I stopped around 5 months. DD now burps if she needs to without help.

When they self burp I think but I find it prudent to get a burp out of DD before letting her go after she necks 8oz in 30 seconds flat. Had to burp her last night after she rolled her eyes mid bedtime bottle and crashed out after a busy day. She's 16 months Grin

As soon as she could sit up unsupported I think about 6 months, it was wonderful we used to spend AGES burping her, and apparently breastfed babies didn't need burping !? ( so I was told! ) yea right.ours did.

Christelle2207 · 07/04/2014 16:07

Mine-8 months- no longer seems to need it. He has been sitting up unsupported since 7m.

MrTumblesSpottyHag · 07/04/2014 20:54

I didn't start Grin
I was told the same as a pp that bf babies don't need it so we just never bothered.
DD was never particularly pukey though so perhaps we were just lucky Confused

rumbelina · 07/04/2014 20:56

When they are sitting up on their own iirc

Artandco · 08/04/2014 11:21

We never did either.. I was also told bf babies didn't need to usually so didn't bother as seemed fine
