Sleeping with your children. What age is acceptable?

Hello all, first time poster (dad) seeking some advice...

My ex and I have a major disagreement. Our daughter has just turned nine, and last Friday she fell asleep in my arms in bed.

When my ex came home, she completely freaked out about it. Now, if she wanted to sleep with me (or her) every night, then this would be a problem, but once in a while I think is fine. It's not as if she's 13, she's only nine.

What do people think, is nine too old?

It wouldn't even occur to me that this is a problem or bad thing. I find it totally bizarre that some people find it dodgy!
Ds is 9 and would sleep in my arms, or his step dad's arms every night if he could! It's sweet and lovely and if only he wasn't such a sweaty annoying sleeper who thrashes about, talks in his sleep and grinds his teeth, we'd let him! Grin

They aren't kids for long, these lovely, comforting moments will be gone forever when they get all hormonal and start hating our guts, so cherish them while you can!

9 is still very young, my daughter used to fall asleep on her dads lap at that age. Shes a teen now and it has stopped. it wont be forever, just enjoy it while it lasts.

It's fine! I would have no problem with this if DD 9 slept in X's bed. Little kids - 9 is still little- still need that comfort sometimes.

My 11 year old DS usually comes in with me once a week.

My 9 year old DS sometimes prefers by bed, or moves in in the middle of the night.
