Allergic to disposable nappys

My baby has developed an allergy to her nappies. I'm reading all the reviews to get the best reusables but can't use them all the time. Any one found low allergy disposables? Help

pampers sensitive hypoallergenic nappies here Sometimes they get allergic to the scent used in some nappies my dd always got a rash from pampers but was fine with huggies have you tried different brands?

We found changing between 2 brands helped. When you say an allergy to her nappies - what do you mean exactly?

you could try tushies or moltex oko. Both are chlorine bleach free and tushies have no gel in them. I think www.naturbotts.co.uk do samples and www.spiritofnature.co.uk sell them too.

You could probably get a sample by explaining the problem to them

my dd1 could only wear moltex oeko or nature boy & girl. The pampers sensitive brought her out in just as bad a rash as all the other nappies (but that was 7 years ago - maybe they've changed).
You really need to try a few - it's quite common for babies to react with a rash to a certain brand.

mumofangs · 18/08/2006 11:30

I'll certainly try some other brands. The allergy doesn't look like nappy rash but four almost perfectly round red patches on her bottom and a red band at the front under the waist band. At the moment you can hardly see it but some days it's bright red. There doesn't seem to be a link to teething or wet/dirty nappies.

You can get bamboo disposables that don't use chemicals etc. Not used them myself.

sorry, my links never work

Actually, they are BAMBO nappies, not bambOO (there's no bamboo in them). They're another eco friendly brand, and very good, but like every other eco disposable other than Moltex they're bleached (although with oxygen, not chlorine like conventional dispikables).

I'd recommend Moltex because they are unbleached (bleach residues often cause irritation). They contain tea extracts which are really soothing to the skin, and they don't dry the skin like conventionals can. They have no perfumes in either.

They are also ultra eco-friendly for a disposable - they claim to be compostable in a special wormery (not a regular compost heap) if anyone is so inclined and even the plastic packaging is biodegradeable. I have tested the biodegradeability myself by popping it into the compost heap (against recommendations I again emphasize!) and it disappeared within 6 months.

I'll send you a sample with pleasure (and anyone else who wants one). Email me your address and baby's weight to [email protected].

You can see sizes and info here .
