I know its probably obvious, and a daft silly question, but do you just sort of grab at the nappy material with a nippa-head, then grab at the other side, then below, and hope it sticks? I've only tried with an empty nappy, but they seem to fall off really easily...

its t\he stretch that holds them, dig in on one hip strech to other hip dig in and then below should hold (but then im a failed clothie )

Hi Elibean, practicing on an empty nappy probably wont work as you need the bulk to add the required 'tension' but yes you fold the nappy and then stretch the three 'arms' in their various directions. Much better then pins and once you have put on some elastic pants (or whatever they are called nowadays) it will do the job nicely.

Couldn't you put a nappy on a large teddy and have a practice?

They won't work unless the nappy is on something -- it is, as littleducks says, the stretch and grip that holds them and if the nappy is loose and unfilled there won't be any. Try putting the nappy on a teddy bear or doll (or a baby...) and then try again.

When putting nappy on baby, put your finger where the three 'nippers' intesect in the middle. then you should be able to attatch the clips with enough tension....

Oh you are stars. Thank you, off to steal/borrow/beg dd's largest teddy for nippa practice

ps just to clarify, teddy isn't entirely due to lack of confidence: baby is still on the inside

See, you will be a pro by the time that baby arrives
