Cloth for heavy wetting 2.5yo

We always used cloth for our son (with a disposable at night), and planning to use them on no.2 in the summer when she comes along. However once he was 18 months or so he was soaking through the btp (bamboo boosted) nappies really quickly, so needed changing hourly and to save our sanity we swapped to disposables. Whereas I can see the convenience when out and about and at nursery, I'd prefer to revisit the cloth option as I think it will help with potty training.

What are my best options? He's 75th centile for weight and 50th for height, wees for England. I've tried the btp pockets with a wrap and they are soaked through and leak at the leg. I've also been using standard tots bots terries - on their own (with a wrap obv) they are wet through in a hour, so tried them with an ella's house hemp/fleece booster but that seemed to rub his groin and gave him a rash. Also tried boosting with a size 1 prefold which gives us a bit more time but is bulky.

I've recently invested in some nature babies bamboo terries and they seem to work quite well, but I find them difficult to fold with the rounded edges (been doing Maria's fold for boys which has 1-2 layers at the back and 6-8 layers at the front).

Is there anything else I can use? OH won't learn to fold the terries and he doesn't like nippa's or pins (sigh) so only me doing nappy changes atm... Or are there any particularly good folds for heavy wetting boys that I can do? I've got some nappy pins arriving soon so hopefully they will keep the nappy in place a bit better - I'm always a bit concerned about the nippas moving about once DS starts climbing on everything.

Thanks!

You can buy bigger Terries and then fold them in either the Maria fold or the chinese or bat fold from the Nappylady site. I have found standard terries quite good enough in the day even for heavy wetting boys once they are mobile by adapting the V fold. I do nto use the first folds to make smaller square but simply taking the nappy, fold the bottom of it up a few centimetres, you'll have to play with the amount depending on the size of the child, and then you make the V, leaving the bulk of the nappy at the front and only a single layer where is it not much use round the side and back of the waist. this also seems to hold up well and can either be pinned at each side or, until they get really big, with one central pin (speeding up reluctant wriggling toddler changes) and it does not fall down as easily when soggy as some other folds!! The only drawback s that it is bulky at the front and between the legs but that, after all, is where the bulk is needed. HTH

Sorry for the typos - in haste before the tea-time deluge.

A sized bamboo nappy (like Little Lambs) with an XL Superbooster (from The Nappy Lady) and a wrap (Motherease or Blueberry) would be my recommendation.

I tried Size 3 TotsBots and LittleLambs, which seemed to just about do the trick, although they were quite big on him. I too had a heavy wetter who wasn't potty-trained until he was nearly three.

I'd say size 3 Tots Bots bamboozle stretch, or size 3 Little Lamb bamboo, with a size 3 LL wrap or Motherease XL wrap. Or maybe a Bumper from easy Peasy nappies (XL version of their Bumble) maybe with a hemp Easy Peasy booster.

Thanks for the replies - I will have a look at the v fold. Nappy pins have arrived now so hoping they will help keep it in place better. Will also investigate some LLs.

DS is 16mo and has started with this issue - 85th percentile for weight, similar for height, has started super soaking. We've always used Flip wraps, previously boosted with LL triple bamboo. Best option for us now is size 2 Bamboozles, can go back to 3h changes instead of 1-2h, although I'm going to test out double boosting to see if that works too.
