My bright 2 and a half year old is not potty trained. Im feeling really upset by this as I feel its my fault due to introducing the issue too early. she has been very early at other milestones, eg walking , talking, numbers, colours etc, but still pees and poos in her pull-ups. I can tell when she is starting to have a poo, and I say, "shall we go to the toilet" but she just changes the subject, then says "mummy, Ive done a poo" and lays on the floor to have her nappy changed. I use pull ups but not sure if this is the problem, and I try talking to her about it but she gets very agitated and changes the subject. im very worried about this and feel whatever I do is making the situation worse, Ive never felt as useless. other than this she is a very happy, funny and loving little girl, but it worries me that she doesnt want to use the potty/toilet at all, has anyone any thoughts. Thanks, this is my first post.

Today my son aged 3yrs 4mths had a HUGE tantrum over nappy free time which I have started properly for a few weeks now.
He was so angry, I calmly decided, for the rest of the day we are going nappyless till 6pm and told him, no nappies till the time he watches a programme usually around 6.
After the fury died, he went to the potty and weed, then 5 mis later another wee.. by the time the nappy went on at 6, he had done 12 wees with limited prompting!
I expect set backs but for us this was HUGE progress. I had tried two months ago and gave up, he found it so stressful, but today was completely unplanned!
He was pleased to have his nappy back on, but I told him tomorrow we would do the same thing, so no doubt the fury will return.
Once he had decided it wasn't that bad, we had a lot of fun together in the house.. I was quite surprised!!
To oliviasmummy - relax.. she will get there. I really do understand what it is like.. give her time and most of all take the time not to get stressed, because like another poster says, they do pick up on this!

Oliviasmummy, take heart my dd2 is 3 just and had shown sign of interest in potty when she was about 2.9. but she hated the potty so i left it for a while. When in Mothercare looking for a gift for her 3rd birthday i saw the potty chairs. She saw them too. So i let her choose a design. She used it as soon as we got home! We have only been using nappies at night since! When she is ready they will use the potty. My dd1 was potty trained by 2.2 so you never can tell!

I felt like you at the end of last year. My son was 2 and a half and showed no interest at all. Despite some catty remarks by other mums and my own mother I waited till may this year (He was 3 in june) and he was dry in a day...i am not kidding. We had 2 accidents and they were my fault as I put the potty too far away when we were outside. I still use pull ups at night but 5 nights out of 7 they are dry and sometimes he gets up in the night to use the loo. Before trying potty training I let him choose his own pants (thomas the tank!) and his potty from the shops and he seemed to like that.(alhtough he soon went from potty to toilet) I also found a reward chart and stickers helped and he got a little treat at the end of every day for the first week (sticker book or magazine) All children are different and whether she gets dry at 2,3 or 4 it will happen when she is ready. Good luck x
