Wees a bit in pants before telling me.

Hi everyone.

My DD, 2.5, started using the potty about 8 weeks ago. She is fine when naked and goes to the potty no problem for wees and poos.

We really struggled with the transition to pants as she is so independent yet cant get them off herself yet and doesnt always tell me in time. She was only having a couple of accidents a week though so i wasnt too worried.

Today she has had 2 accidents in her pants simply because she didnt tell me in time. I did take her pants off and she finished in the potty but the pants were wet enough that I had o change them. Is this normal? Should she be able to hold it all in now? or is this bit of wee before telling me and then doing on the potty normal?

I'm worried she's regressing a bit because I am 5 months pregnant and we just painted the nursery this weekend but I dont want to blame it on that really. She is very excited about the baby.

I still give her a sweet or choc button if she uses the potty/toilet successfully and she gets nothing if she has an accident. Is this right? Even when she finishes her wee on the potty. I dont want to demotivate her.

Any suggestions welcome....

Could she wear her clothes, skirts/dresses without pants fora bit?

Seems like she is forgetting she has on pants not a nappy?

You could try bigger pants so baggy and easier to grasp.

Try half a button because pants were a bit wet, whole button for dry pants.

dd2 was still doing the odd dribble in her pants until age 4. didn;t really worry about it tbh, although it is annoying I know. with her its the usual being just too busy to go the loo. making sure she goes before we go out, before meals etc seems to have got it in control. I still smile to myself at the time she told me in no uncertain terms. I'VE ALREADY HAD A WEE. YESTERDAY.

I think pants can be confusing, making the child think subconsciously that she/he has a nappy on. Let her go pants-free for the rest of the summer.

this is normal - was for my dd
sometimes she just forgot - they do need constant reminders for a while after they are trained, even now, when she is really engrossed in something she'll have a little trickle reminding her that she really must must go!

Thanks for the comments. I guess I just need to chill out and let her run with it. On the whole she's done great so I cant complain too much....I guess we'll have good days and bad days for a while.
