Which bamboo nappy for newborns

Have just received a load of nappies to try and am totally in love with the Tots Bots bamboozle as its so soft, so would really like to try out some other bamboo nappies that would suit a new born (well a "yet to be born" in fact!) Can anyone tell me anything more about Babaloo, Wam-Bamboo and Babeco (or any others that anyone has tried?) before I go too mad and just buy anything that says its made from bamboo!?

I've just got a couple of Wam-Bamboo and they are beautifully soft, and neat looking....not tried them yet, as baby not due till December, but they are gooooorrgeeoouuus....

Both the wam-bamboo and the babloo have detached boosters making the size two a good candidate for "proper" birth to potty nappy. I've only tried the wam-bamboo and also lent it to a friend with baby twins and we've both been impressed with the fit.

BUT like all bamboo, they do take a while to dry. If you can hang on for a couple of weeks Baby Beehinds will have a new bamboo nappy out as well, it's bamboo fleece and comes in some lovely bright colours. It's a birth to potty nappy and if the bamboo is anything like their hemp nappy, it should be excellent

Wambamboo all the way. Been using them on DS since about 12 weeks, but tested it on my step sister's 6 week old too, and still a lovely fit.

(Oh, I used size 1 bamboozles too, and would pick the WBB every time)

Hi,

Wham-Bamboo also don't have the problem with the nappi nippa as Bamboozles do, making them a better fit on small babes.

I would also get some bamboo terry squares in (either Babeco or Nappy Nation), they are very trim compared to regular terry squares, dry alot faster than shaped bamboo nappies (a real plus if you are chaning 8-10 times a day) and really not that fiddly .

I would suggest trying them out when you got the general idea of changing down pat but they are alot easier than the look!

Thanks everyone for your advice (sorry its taken me a bit of time to get back to you).

I've ordered the wam-bamboo and the Baby Beehinds (although they say delivery is going to take a bit of time).

MrsWaggsnapps - I'm not quite sure what I'd do with some terry squares - do you fold them up to look like a prefold and then just pop them in a wrap or do you have to do the triangular kit wrap thing with a nappy nippa? I've ordered a meter of bamboo terry from Geobel as I thought I could make a couple of squares and a changing mat cover with it (with perhaps a bit over for me to stroke!)

are the baby beehinds nippa or aplix?

nappyaddict · 07/09/2006 01:35

do the clwt twt and the babeco have detached boosters or sewn in ones?

Hi - just found this thread while doing a bit of research into nappies myself and thought I'd add my two-pence!

I've only tried Babaloo's bamboo nappies and they're lovely - started out by ordering one and then ordered another 5 velcro ones straight away and although they took a while to get here (they claim to have a backlog of orders of about a month apparently) they were well worth the wait. Very soft, great fit, and apparently made by hand so should last a while with a bit of luck. Only drawback is that they don't make wraps for them but I've been using the Little Lamb ones and they do a good job too.

Sorry not to be of more help with the other makes - a friend recommended the Babaloo ones to me and I've not looked back, but would be very interested to hear what others have to say about Babeco, Wambamboo etc...

MrsWaggsnapps · 16/10/2006 21:38

You can do padfolded or many many others with squares, the nappy lady has loads of different folds to try out (my favourite is the Jo fold). The Baby Beehind nappy is poppered, I've only tried the hemp, which is really good - the Aussie mums sites reckon that the bamboo is even better.

I used Bamboozles on my daughter but have also tried the wambamboos as well as Babeco's bamboo nappies. A site called Pure Nappiness seems to be the cheapest for the Tots Bots packs at the moment.

Dragonhart · 18/10/2006 21:05

Def Wanbamboos. I have just started with cloth nappies and read this thread and many others while researching. Tried Wambamboos thanks mostly to Flamesparrow's raving about them (thanks flamesparrow) and now have 18!

They are lovely and slim, really absorbant and I really think that they would fit a newborn as well as my rather hefty 14month old. The tabs are so long they fit around my chunky DS's tummy, but the material seems thin enough that it wouldnt swamp a tiny baby. I will find out in Jan when I have my second child!

I have also bought some flat bamboo terry squares (think they were babeco) to use as boosters. Just washing them now so will let you know!

More thanks from me too Flamebat! Am on day three of WBBs and DD just had the hugest, most EXPLOSIVE, poo ever - she'd been saving for a while, dear child - and there was no leakage at all!! Very impressed!
