Hi, my 23month old is not using her lips to form sounds at all. She is trying to talk now and has quite a few words that I recognise, though very few other people recognise but she will not be persuaded to use her lips. For example I am called "Nonny" not mummy, please is prononced "tease", our dog Ebony is called "enny" and so on. I have tried to play noise games with the lips with no sucess, have just about taught her how to blow bubbles from a bubble pot to make her shape her mouth and have recently managed to get her to blow a whistle toy that involves her having to use her lips to make the seal on it. Am I just expecting too much at this stage or should I be doing more? It's just that you hear about smaller babies saying mamamama etc which she has never done. She goes in phases of worrying me about her speech development and I have been on the verge of going to seek an opinion about where she should be when she will start to make progress again.
Thanks for any advice

she is still very young. My ds is 2.10yrs and only just been referred for speech therapy..he was a very late talker and even then hv said she would only refer him as it is holding him back as he is advanced in other ways. I really would not worry yet give it at least 6mths.
