The house is a tip, toys all over the place, washing up stacked up, drowning in ironing and washing and to top it all off MIL is coming on Sunday and I have to work Saturday and Sunday. DH is working 14 hours a day and I really lashed out at the kids tonight. Please help me restore my sanity with soothing words of encouragement.

pirate sex

sausage rolls

is that soothing enough

Sparkler1 · 10/08/2006 19:12

Liliput - you sound like me. My house is exactly the same. Can't get on with anything with the kids being home. Every room a tip. Like you the washing up never seems done - we have a dishwasher too. Just so sick of doing the same stuff day in and day out.
No soothing words of encouragement but just wanted to let you know that you are not on your own.

Thats why I come on MN - to relax.

Pirate sex?????

Yeah, we have a dishwasher as well but it's all those little bloody bowls from ikea that just flip over if they go in the dishwasher. I swear they are breeding. I foolishly tried to do a bit of a sort out of toys today. Big mistake when the two kids were around. My ds who is 18 months had one of those days where he just walked around whinging/crying and nothing would cheer him up.
I might actually be glad to go to work with dh tomorrow, at least we will be able to have an uninteruppted conversation while we work!

MN is my downfall, I get lost in a little MN bubble and nothing gets done.

i am such a bad mum

swedishmum · 10/08/2006 19:23

I know how you feel. It's like being on a treadmill. Have put the kids in charge of dinner tonight because I am so bored with it all. I stood in Tesco today thinking how bored I am with the same old food on the shelves (not sure what I expected in there). Also we live in a pretty but v v dull area miles away from anywhere interesting. I'm only cooking in tinfoil to cut down on washing up and would buy disposable clothes if I could - how I can still have a laundry pile when I do at least 2 loads a day is a total mystery.

Snap! I have also had one of those days where nothing has got done, apart from seperating fighting children, and trying to walk with crying children hanging onto my legs, no joke.
The repetition, the repetition, the repetition

Lilliput · 10/08/2006 21:13

I feel like I spend a lot of time waiting for dh to be home, and waiting for Sunday night to come around when he is not at work sun night/monday. I do have agood network of mums but everyone is pretty busy with it being the hols and everyones kids different ages etc. But yes the repetition especially of tea time and bed time is a killer sometimes.

no wonder it's called the arsenic hour!!

dmo · 10/08/2006 21:49

think the grind has got dh down too
we both work full time i'm a c/m so work 7am till 6pm everyday and dh works 8-5
dh does most of housework (i iron) and food shopping etc but getting crosser and crosser as house is getting untidy (i look after 8 children a day)
during hols i'm out of house bout 9.30am till 5.30pm on trips etc so i'm not doing any washing etc cant keep up

Lilliput · 10/08/2006 21:51

I try and get out as much as possible to avoid them making too much mess (never really works though) but also to avoid the shite that I have to do.

can you afford a cleaner?

I sometimes wish that the governement would announce a scheme where all mothers got a free cleaning session once a week. Imagine how much the quality of our lives would improve!

desperateSCOUSEwife · 10/08/2006 21:57

I still havent done the muffins and the kids are nagging me
