Night in hotel - by myself?!

After 10 weeks of dire sleep deprivation (still on 5-8 wake-ups a night) I am thinking of disappearing to a hotel tomorrow night by myself.

DH is going to have the baby, but stay awake downstairs with him as he is afraid he won't wake up if DS2 screams and also can't co-sleep with him as I am doing for fear of rolling on him.

I really want to do it - I DREAM of doing it! - but I think I feel too guilty. For both DH and DS2. I'm desperate for a full night's sleep, but should I go? Can't stay in the house and just go in spare room as it's a small house and if I can hear DS2 I won't sleep.

What do you think?

Sounds heavenly, my DD still wakes up between 5 and 6 times a night at nearly 6 months... Really feeing it now!

Sounds wonderful. Enjoy it. Have some ridiculously overpriced food on room service, not forgetting the Wine, for me Smile

Yes, 'twas lovely (wistful smile). I had no trouble sleeping, although I did have to we three times to get busy with the breast pump Confused but obviously that is nothing like wake-ups with Baby as you know for sure you can get straight back to sleep. 9pm-9am - lovely!

When I got back, found that Baby slept better than he does with me! Got to figure out why that is. DH had him unswaddled but maybe it's just that my boobs weren't right there at his disposal!

I encourage all you lovely ladies to do the same if you are able. And thanks soooo much for the suppor and encouragement. Right now I don't know where I'd be without mumsnet!

This sounds sublime - lucky you.

Pixielady83 · 16/02/2014 11:50

That sounds amazing, so glad you did it! I used to fantasise about booking in somewhere on my own when DD was tiny! maybe I will with this next one!

GingerMaman · 16/02/2014 12:16

Sounds amazing Rebecca! Smile I think I might take up DH's offer and go for a night too. Just need to get DD on a bottle 1st ...

HelenHen · 16/02/2014 14:19

Oh sounds lovely, glad you did it and had a great time! It's amazing how babies surprise us. E.g from the beginning, I could never settle ds if/when he woke during the night. If I went in, he'd be awake for hours, if dp went in he'd be asleep in minutes Grin so dp had the night shifts... Luckily it didn't happen often! I think women put too much pressure on ourselves thinking dcwowon't cope without us... But they can and do!

puntasticusername · 16/02/2014 21:33

Huh. See, you seem like such a nice person, which makes it deucedly difficult for me to call you all the jealous names I want to call you because YOU WENT TO A HOTEL YOU DID.

Grin

Glad you had such a great time. One day it'll be me...

RebeccaJames · 16/02/2014 21:53

Well, puntastic, then get a load of this: I think I might have just convinced DH that we should do it again soon so that we can see if Baby sleeps better for him again or whether it was just a coincidence! ! Can't quite believe my luck there!

Probably won't happen, though, TBH. So don't go getting jealous! Smile

And thanks again, helenhen for the kick up the bum. I think you may well have made the difference to me actual going! And I can't quite believe I did it now!

I still do this with dc aged 7 and 10. It's my dh's treat to me / my treat to myself and I love it!

toomuchtooold · 17/02/2014 07:23

That is such a fantastic thing to do! Hope you had a great night.

HelenHen · 17/02/2014 12:26

Aw thanks Rebecca! Glad I could help! I dunno why but I actually really would have been annoyed if you didn't do it lol. I'm so sick of moms thinking they're the be all and end all to their kids and that their kids would simply disintegrate and die without them Grin and I thought you were going the same route! So it felt quite victorious when you said you did it! Hope you get to do it again!
