Got Matress question

Ds2 is almost 6mo so will soon be moving from bedside cot in our room to large cot bed in nursery. We got a new Matress for Moses basket, bedside cot, carry cot erc but do we need to replace the one in cot bed? Was £££!?

can you remove the cover to wash it? or it is fully waterproof and can it be wiped clean? If so, then I would re-use it. I re-used dd's mattress for ds as it had a cover that could be washed and the underneath was waterproof and could be cleaned as well.

Yes no amount of money is worth the SIDS risk however small it may be. Also spending a lot on a cot mattress is silly anyway babies are so light that they don't need fancy spring mattresses.

possible. There is some evidence to suggest that bringing in a mattress from another home might increase the risk
of sudden infant death very slightly. When using your own mattress for a second (or more) time, ensure it is still
firm and flat with no tears or holes, and is not sagging in places. Thoroughly clean the waterproof layer and ensure
the mattress is clean and dry before making it up with fresh bed clothes.

(sounds like risk is greater if using a mattress that has come from another family rather than one used by a sibling)
