Making friends with a toddler post PND

I really struggled during DS's first year, and was diagnosed with PND quite late. I went to all the baby stuff but found socializing tough, and became very shy/reserved. Now that I'm feeling much better I feel like I missed the window to make Mummy friends - when everyone bonded over babies. DS is now 17 month old. I work 3 days a week. Anyone been through this?

Soft play, toddler playgroup, mumsnet meet ups, swimming lessons, ballet class etc. you will make friends, lots of mums are up for making more 'mum friends' when their toddlers are that age as lots of the mums they may have socialised with initially are back at work/off on different days to them. Xx

I didn't start going to toddler groups untill
My son was two and really enjoyed going to them
As we didn't go when he was a baby.
It has been difficult at times as I have only been close
To one person from the group and some people have already formed there own little group and can be not very friendly. But I still go anyways and have still made new friends

Thanks v much. I think I've just lost my confidence and I guess it's just a matter of putting yourself out there.

We moved when ds was about 15 months so I only really started anything at that point - I also had not bothered with groups until then as when they are under 1 I don't think they notice much!

So - remember you are starting just like any other nun who has moved or just started really bothering with groups - you won't be 'behind' or in a strange position ...

I think it's probably pretty normal to start groups once a baby is waking etc - just treat it like a project for yourself to find what you enjoy doing and groups / children's centres /music classes that have a nice vibe

Be brave and remember other people are feeling just like you - keen for adult chats but shy/ tired/ having a bad day!

You should definately go, your de proud of yourself for going and I am sure if you go you will meet friends and it will be good for you and your child to get out the house and be in a different environment. Good luck
