Is a 3-door car practical with a 1 year old?

Hi,
We're getting a new car as a second car, small run-around, etc. etc. My husband has suggested a ford ka but they only do 3 door versions. I'm not convinved that a 3 door car will be practical when you're trying to get a 1year old in and out of the car seat. Does anyone have a 3 door car and, if so, is it as much of a pain as it seems?
Feedback greatly appreciated as I don't want to saddle myself with a car I hate.

Em

oh and we've currently got a Ford Fiesta - 3 door, again tall DH - DS's are 6 and 3 (well nearly) no problems - fit LOADS of shopping in the booot too

My DP bought himself a sporty number with only 3 doors, can't think of make and model, but it is a nightmare, we have to take the wheels off the buggy to fit it in and getting my big DD 10 month old in and out is hard work. Hopefully he will change it soon.

we have a 3 door and i've never even thought about it being a problem. it is too small for my dh to be comfortable in when the kids are in the back though. my boot is tiny though. i fit a pushchair in but only by taking the back shelf out

Our second car is a 3 door ( Punto) I actually find it easier to strap youngest into the car seat in the back.

Have had it since the eldest was about 6 months ( now nearly 6) . No problems with kids in it.

Far more pratcical for parking and runnning round town and also the road tax is chepaer with smaller car.

Why don't you test drive one for the day from the local ford dealer and see how it works out .

Well I dont know what all the fuss is about this 3 door lark. Everyone said to me that you will need a 5 door so that you can have kids in the back easily.

Having a 3 door really was no trouble, bit of exercise stretching in to do the belt up and the added security of my little fiddlitus trying to open doors, windows, press buttons and burn out motors in the process.

So thumbs up for 3 door, oh yes, they are cheaper too.
