Fuzzibunz leaking

I've used fuzzibunz one size succesfully for my ds from ~2mo-2 yr, and now am using them with dd whose 7mo, but they leak all the time, even after less than an hour of wear. Often the pad is saturated but not all the time, but she's quite small still (16lb) so I can't see how using double inserts would fit. Sometimes it looks like they might be leaking through the seams. I've replaced all the elastic and I think the fit is good. I'm wondering if they're just worn out. We did live in the tropics with ds so they did have 2 years of line drying in hot tropical sun - would that have degraded the PUL lining? I dont' know how much time to spend trying different settings, different inserts, or whether to just accept that after 2 years of good use they're finished. Any suggestions?

I would suggest doing a strip wash, in case there is any build up of detergent which I'm told can cause nappies to stop absorbing so well. The Nappy Lady website has instructions how to do it, I think it's cold rinse, hot wash with detergent, a few more rinses, but check her site. Another option is boosting with a slim bamboo booster, which is more absorbent than microfibre / minky (cant remember what the Fuzzi inserts are made of) and slimmer. Little Lamb do bamboo boosters which are really good, you put it under the microfibre insert inside the nappy, I.e. so the MF insert is closest to the baby. That might help. I'd also recommend contacting FuzziBunz UK directly through their website, I run a nappy library and have been in touch with the several times and they are really helpful.

Thanks for the reply Lime. I will maybe try a strip wash. I'm loathe to have to start buying more inserts etc, though I suppose in the long run it's still cheaper than buying lots of disposables. It's just annoying as they used to work fine...
