Would you leave an 11 yo home alone for 1.5 hours?

This is during the day and would be a regular thing, a couple of times a week. She's only just turned 11 but is very sensible and is happy to be left alone. I leave her for half an hour or so sometimes but does 1.5 hours sound too long?

yes, if she is ok with it

I leave my ds alone for that long, though not on a regular basis.

I made the decision based on if I could trust him to follow the rules we made, and not to have friends round, and how sensible he is basically.

We have clear guidelines, no cooking, no answering the door. And there is a friend round the corner that he could contact in an emergency (and he knows several neighbours)

yes, unless there are special needs. Its good to build children's independence and it will be good preparation for secondary school.

I would and did at that age, in fact my children were always happy to be left alone but only you know your own child and if they will be OK but as a very general rule I'd say no problem at all.

Yes I would and have. I do have a neighbour who she knows to go to in an emergency, but would leave her even without.

I would have no problem with that and used to when my eldest was that age.
I always made sure I was local and contactable though (even if its only 5 minutes) and had to be regimental with the times when she was that age.

I once popped to the shop (two streets away) down the road and told her I would be 10 minutes. My phone had no reception and I ended up being more like 15 minutes but she had TIMED IT and was in a panic when i got back!

From then on I always told her I was longer than I would be but now days she watches the clock because she likes her space rather than panicking about being alone Grin

I wouldn't.

Yes I would and have.

And I would leave a 10yr old for a shorter period of time.

Ds3 is just 9 and I will leave him for short periods ie 15/20mins.
