Hi Smile

As a first time mum I'm finding MN invaluable so thought I'd ask about this Smile

My gorgeous little boy is 8 weeks old and an absolute joy Smile

He is generally a happy, smiley boy who is doing great.

We are very fortunate that if we feed him around 8/9pm he wakes just once during the night In his little crib.

The days however are puzzling me a bit Confused

When he is awake I play with him/read to him and sometimes take him round in his bouncer chatting to him while I do a couple of jobs.
Lying on a blanket on the floor while I show him toys/read and chat to him is apparantly the best thing ever!

The issue is with naps. He shows signs of being tired (yawning, eye rubbing, no longer interested in playing) but if he falls asleep on my chest and I put him in his moses basket he either wakes instantly or very soon after. So I pick him up and start again.

Problem is that he then doesn't really get a quality sleep so gets frustrated Sad

I thought about putting him in the basket once the tired signs appear but feel mean if he's just laying there looking round and smiling to himself while I don't interact especially if it takes him a while to go to sleep.

Has anyone else had this? What did you do? In a way I'd love to cuddle him all day but sadly need to move sometimes!

Just to add - he hates being swaddled and I can't use a sling as I have a back problem and at 13lb 12oz he's not small!

Congratulations! You have my DS. It got better - I did 2 / 3 / 4 (hours awake) from about 12 weeks which suited him quite well. I did have numerous nap times pinned to the sofa, though.
