Hi,

Any recommendations for a sling? Need to be able to put it on on my own. Dd is nearly 4 weeks old.

Thanks
Rach

I'd recommend a close carrier (close caboo I think now)·My two both lived in mine for the first few months. Easy to put on your self and very comfy for both you and baby.

Oh and congrats on your DD Smile

Boba 4G - you can use it until your dd is 4. It's fantastic

I used a close carrier until DS was about 5 months, easy to use and stretchy. Now he's heavier I'm using just a wrap in the house for nap times and a connecta when out.
Love the close for newborns. The ergo is also a good option but needs a newborn insert.

Agree Close caboo is really easy and snuggly with young babies.

I used a tri cotti when ds was first home he was prem and still had a very low weight it was two fabric loops so no worry about knots. Now he's bigger I have a Beco carrier with an infant insert it took a bit of practice but it's been getting easier in my own.

I started with a stretchy moby wrap when my DD was tiny. So comfy and lovely. I have then moved on to try meitais, a boba, a moby go buckled carrier and woven wraps. I hire a sling for a couple of weeks from my localsling group, and give it back once I'm tried it out.

Personally I love my woven wraps the best. I'm short with big boobs and a bad back and wrapping is the only way to get a sling to fit perfectly. My 8mo feels totally weightless when wrapped and I can carry her on my front, hip and back.

The main thing to ensure is your sling has a nice wide base that supports your baby's legs from knee to knee. High street crotch danglers that face baby out are best avoided as they're not great for you or your baby. Google optimum sling position to see pics of how your baby should be positioned to protect her hips and spine.

Finally - enjoy! Carrying my baby in a sling is my favourite thing in the world, hands down! Nothing beats the closeness you get, and the oxytocin buzz Grin
