Out of breath 4 month old? Normal?

He had a bath and went crazy in it. I mean crazy!! Whole bathroom was soaked! I stopped him after a few minutes and his heart was racing and he was out of breath!!

This may sound like a stupid question but does this sound normal?!

Did it go back to normal soon after? If so I think that's ok, he was just doing a bit of baby exercising!
If not then I might be quite worried.

Depends what you mean by crazy and how long ot went on

WhateverLove · 20/01/2014 21:09

Crazy! Kicking both his legs and flapping his arms at the same time, his whole body lifting out if the water!! I didn't really time it but no more than 5 minutes?!

Sounds like he was just really enjoying the sensation of splashing!

As long as he went back to normal breathing soon after I personally wouldn't worry. Is he ok now!?

WhateverLove · 20/01/2014 21:21

He's asleep now funnily enough :)

Will monitor how quickly it goes back - I'm sure it was fine pretty quickly otherwise I would have noticed. This boy has so much energy!!

Thanks for the help!

Sounds like he had a great time. :)

Just remembered something. I think you can tell if a baby is struggling for breath if thier belly gets drawn in alot when they breath. Im sure he is just fine x

WhateverLove · 20/01/2014 21:28

I'll watch out for that next time... I put him in a jumperoo last week and he went crazy and was out if breath too, thought it was a bit weird! I'm not sure about those jumping things to be honest but I guess that's another thread!

Ahhh, sweet little man!
Not surprised he's asleep obv apart from the fact that he is four months old! after all that activity.

I think you're ok. Just have an energetic baby! Smile

@WhateverLove it’s been a really long time so not sure you can remember specifics but I’m in a similar situation with mine and I’m very close to go to AE.
mess it anything concerning with yours or just energetic baby?

WhateverLove · 01/03/2024 09:29

This is so random, I didn't even know I had a mumsnet account but I guess I did and I guess at some point this was a concern!

I can report that energetic baby is now energetic 10 year old! Happy and healthy!

If you're worried, always listen to your instinct that's the best advice I can give. Oh and ALWAYS prioritise getting enough sleep so you don't go crazy! Like, rope everyone in to help, partners, family, friends, get as many people to help as possible to keep you well rested calm and happy it will save you a world of difficult parenting to come xx
