7 week old possibly overtired?

Hi all Smile

My lovely little boy is 7 weeks old. He's doing great - smiling, alert and generally adorable.

Over the past week though I've been struggling a bit through the day sometimes and wondered if anyone can offer advice?

I've only this last week started taking him out a lot during the day as I had a c-section and couldn't drive. We live on a narrow, windy country lane which is unsafe to walk on with the pram.

Prior to this week he has been happy to sleep in his basket downstairs with us during the day and until we go to bed around 11pm.

We are very lucky that he will self settle and sleep well in his moses basket next to our bed at night.

Our room is very dark as we have black out blinds and no street lights. We have one small blue nursery light on but nothing else.

I'm now finding ds seems to struggle to nap during the day downstairs - he will lie on me and practically squash his face into my chest! Once asleep I put him down but he soon wakes and gets upset. We've also found he doesn't doze in the evening anymore and does the same as through the day.

This means he's getting very little 'quality' sleep during the day and obviously still needs a feed at night (usually once between midnight and 6am).

Tonight he got really quite upset downstairs and couldn't be comforted Sad he was clean, fed and winded and the cry sounded frustrated.

So I've brought him up to bed and he's now fast asleep in his basket while I mn on my phone so very little light.

Is it possible that the fresh air and extra stimulation during the day has made him over tired?

I'm thinking from tomorrow of perhaps bringing him up earlier as I've done tonight so he gets better sleep (I'll stay upstairs with him as don't feel comfortable leaving him yet) and then maybe trying to have less stimulation through the day at sleep times - again maybe bringing him upstairs to nap.

Does this sound possible/ok or am I losing my marbles Grin I'm a new mum so still learning! TIA x
