Hi there just a few questions,
Is baby bottle fed or breast fed (not wanting to offend but makes a difference to amount of time normal between poohs), is baby having hard pebble like poohs or just not going often and seems to be straining?
If poohs are hard, pebble like then this is true constipation, You can add a tsp of brown sugar to the boiled water to help the constipation. If this doesnt work then take three or four prunes, cover in boiling water leave to soak overnight and strain off juice, give mixed with 50 mls boiled water. Try massaging baby's tummy in a clockwise direction and cycling legs. A warm bath sometimes helps too. Leave baby with nappy off to kick around and this can sometimes help a little.
If pooh is soft but infrequent and baby is breastfed this can be very normal and if seems to be straining then this is usually just a case of baby trying to coordinate all the muscles needed to work their digestive system and push the stool through. It can be quite distressing for a baby but is not actually constipation and will come right as their gut matures and their muscles strengthen. Sorry if this is long, hope it is helpful.

he is mixed fed but he had a barium swallow which makes them constipated. i wasn't sure if i could give him sugar or prune juice or anything like that until he was old enough to wean you see.

start with the sugar but both will be fine. Dont be suprised if the pooh is grey or dark after a barium swallow.

Hopefully with it all out of baby's system it will be business as usual in the pooh department.

Teaspoon of brown sugar in a bottle of milk normally does the trick.
