Because my ds is already a master of wit aged 3.

We have had a lot of talk lately about how sometimes a poo is not ready to come (ie when you have tried on the potty but nothing appears), and last night he said "My poo is getting ready....it's putting on its pyjamas and it's nearly ready to open the door..."

ROFL!

DS1 informed me that he'd done a "fluffy poo" yesterday (I was trying not to barf as I changed his nappy - never was the word "fluffy" so misused...).

That's funny, Franny. Dd, also 3, was frowning very hard the other day and suddenly said, "What would happen if our food started talking to us?"

And this morning she was in chatterbox mode on the bus. She said. "Let's talk about buses." I said "OK what would you like to know about buses." She said, "Well.. .What do bus drivers like to eat?"

When ds was about 2 we were walking home and I didn't have any changing gear on me, so when he said he'd done a poo I told him to just wait till we got home. I then got a scary running commentary all the way home about how gigantically enormous the poo he was sitting in was.

"It's a really big one, mummy. I think you're going to need 6 baby wipes for this one..."

3 year olds are the best. I think ds is thinking about what would happen if food talked, as well, medea. I heard him having a conversation with a biscuit he had just eaten the other day

We had the great (and very very loud) "GRAN! You have a hairy bum like mummy!" when we were in the changing room at the pool the other day... cue snickering from the various cubicles around us

FrannyandZooey · 28/07/2006 11:26

We have also had the woefully embarrassing

"Look Mummy, that lady has got a baby in her tummy"

which I staunchly ignore. I mean, what can I say, "No, she's just fat"?

Love these threads, they always make me chuckle.
My DD loves to role play & pretend she is a grown up (she is 4).
The other day she tottered back into the kitchen wearing my shoes & carrying my handbag & gave a big dramatic sigh. I asked her what was up & she told me she'd had such a busy day at work. I asked her what she'd been doing:
"Well," she said, "I sat down at my table, put on my lipstick, had a cup of tea & then I came home. Just soooooooo busy." Another big sigh
Was laughing so much to myself!!! If only!!!

LOL at your son's pooh, Franny. DS2, when he was 3, used to say that his pooh was "loading" when we had a similar delay.

Then he would anthropomorphise all the poohs in the toilet: "That one is the daddy pooh, that one is the mummy, and there are the two little boys. Now they are going down the drain to the sewer where they live...."

Bugsy2 · 28/07/2006 12:30

Yes, we've done the poo family thing too. So strange the way they feel so connected with it. DD used to eat hers too, if left unsupervised near the loo or her potty. So gross!

singersgirl · 28/07/2006 12:32

We also used to get the endless descriptions: "That one is like a browny-red sausage, maybe it's a sausage with ketchup. That one is like a lamb chop."

The fascination has receded somewhat (he's nearly 5 now).

TooTicky · 28/07/2006 16:19

My dd1's poos used to be dinosaurs - and would have to be left in the potty until dp got home so he could admire them...

claireh11 · 29/07/2006 23:12

My ds is also 3 and I think this age is just great for saying funny things.

Like the other day I was telling him where we were going in the car, asking if he remembered. He said "of course I remember Mum, I can remember cos my memory is inside my head"

I just love their logic at this age, they think so seriously about things. Lol

KBear · 29/07/2006 23:24

Tonight DS (4) said we should really have two loos, one for poo and one for wee.

mummydear · 30/07/2006 00:12

My 5 yr old was trying to explain to my nearly 4 yr old what dreams were.

he said 'dreams are stories that are in your head'

Not particulary funny but cute in trying to explain to his younger brother who still has no idea
