If DC is doing half days, which do you think is better?

If you have a quiet child I would say afternoons. They tend to be much calmer.
Mornings are noisier, generally have more children and sometimes it takes longer to do activities and things.
I used to work in a school nursery where the morning and afternoon sessions did exactly the same activities. The afternoons ran much more smoothly, you had tested you focus activity in the morning so had the chance to iron out any problems for the afternoon. The children were better fed, lot's used to come in the mornings hungry and tired but the afternoon children had generally had the chance to eat and had woken up a bit.
Mornings usually work best for Parents but not always children.

I always preferred the afternoons.

Never any rush in the morning, enough time to do an activity or shop or whatever, then lunch. In my case starting nursery coincided with ds dropping his nap so it worked out well for us.

i prefer afternoons less rushing around in the mornings and most people whos dcs are in the morning say it seems so much quicker than the afternoons.

Id like to think having an afternoon session helps with the afternoons in general too - sometimes I feel the afternoons drag as it is.

the nursery i used stopped offering only monrings or afternoons as they had more morning than afternoon people and ended up with staff not doing muhc in the afternoon as there weren't enough children. great for my full time one as she had lots of staff to fuss and play with her

but didn't work out in the end as it wasn't cost effective...
