Is there a point at which parenting becomes consistently easy and fun?

I have two small children. Life with them brings moments of great joy, love, pride and wonder, but they're glued together with stress, frustration, fury, despair and exhaustion. Is there a point at which it becomes mainly easy and fun? Don't say being a grandparent.

15&12 is nice most of the time, exams are a pain and DD1 slams her door now and then, but she always has.

Mine are 4 and 2. I have it in mind that when they are both at school aged 7 and 5 we will enter the halcyon sunny uplands of parenting where milk and honey will freely flow.

Please no one disabuse me of my fantasy.

It goes up and down.

Obviously, little children bring with them mountains of physical work becayuse they can do so little for themselves.

This gets easier as they become able to do these things (and I urge you to let them when they can).

They also become more reasonable and able to see that if they do X, you will reward them with Y.

That said, there is still lots to do. Each day a new challenge rears its head and you can't quite believe it!!!! For example, tomorrow DS needs taking to school for 7.30am for a sports event. There are then various calls on my time until 9.30pm when DD needs collecting from a local restaurant. Saturday? What Saturday?

God I hope so. Mine are 3.2 and 8 months and if it remains this tiring and exhausting, I am going to struggle to make it out alive. Surely when they get older, you at least get a little more time to yourself? Or you can get out and about a bit more. At the moment we are trapped at home a lot as the 8 month old still has two big sleeps during the day and we can't got out for dinner or anything as a family as both kids need to be asleep by 7.30pm.

Tell me it gets easier!
