6+ nappies too small for night times

I changed my 20 month old dd when she woke up and her vest and baby grow we're soaked!

It happened the other week during the day at her nans aswell - probably because she doesn't change her as much as I do in the day times

Usually I would go up a size now but she's already in 6+ pampers baby dry!

What shall I buy? Are the pull ups any bigger and suitable for bed time?

She still had a bedtime bottle which I was gonna stop on her second birthday in April, could this be a problem too much liquid before bed now she's a bit older?

yes the amount of liquid before bed will affect how wet her nappies get overnight. Could you try putting a double nappy on or try changing her before you go to bed.

Middleagedmotheroftwo · 08/01/2014 10:08

Is the nappy actually soaked, or is it just leaking? Could it be that the nappy is too big?

Cookethenook · 08/01/2014 11:55

You could try a tots bots bamboozle stretch with a bambino mioboost booster and a motherease wrap. IME they're totally leakproof.

The nappy is soaked, she's been in that size for a while and they've been fine!

I'm gonna stop drinks after tea and half her milk tonight and see how we go

I would say maybe they are too big. My DS is only in a 5 and he is a chunky 30 month old.

lola88 · 10/01/2014 08:44

I think they might be too big ds is 2 in 3 weeks on the 99th centile for height and weight and only in a 5+. There bums and waists sometimes get smaller at this age all ds's jeans are now sliding down which fit him last month maybe she's lost some chunk and is making the nappys to big? Baby dry should last a good 10 hours without leaks even if totally full.

A bedtime bottle won't help....try giving some pyjama pants/pull ups a try. It's worth a go.

Foxsticks · 10/01/2014 08:53

Have you had her weighed recently? You could weigh her and check she is in the right size. My two year old has only recently moved into a size five.

LittleBearPad · 10/01/2014 08:56

Surely her nappies are too big. Size 6 seems very big for her age. DD (20 months) is in size 4.

Geckos48 · 10/01/2014 08:58

My 3.7 year old still wears size 5 lidl nappies.

If he has a lot to drink before bed we just change him as we go up.

Only1scoop · 10/01/2014 09:01

Could the nappies be slipping as others have said that does seem quite a big size.

WeeTeaJenny · 10/01/2014 09:32

Agree with being too big my two year old is in 5+ but a 5 will also fit fine ( partner bought 5s by mistake , used them anyway )
I always think nappies should be snug fit to stop leakages
IMO the pull ups are much less absorbent and looser , we've been using them for toilet training.

WeeTeaJenny · 10/01/2014 09:34

Also try Pampers Active fit - maybe she is wriggling at night in her sleep ?

Rockchick1984 · 10/01/2014 13:41

Definitely think they must be too big - my DS is 35lbs at nearly 3 and he wears a 5 or 5+! Pull-ups are less absorbent than nappies, as they are for helping with potty training. I think you need to get her weighed and see what size she should be in.

Re the bedtime bottle, if you want to keep that (or some variation of it) for comfort, you should be able to limit the drinks she has for 1-2 hours prior to bedtime and she shouldn't then fill her nappy overnight.

Edenviolet · 10/01/2014 13:42

Pull ups are no good for dd but the dry nights pj pants are great. Dd is 4 and has the 4-7 ones but they even do 8-15 and they are very absorbent.

mctrouser · 11/01/2014 12:09

I have a similar problem - DD is 17 months and 31lb. She is in a 5+ in the day (which just about do up!) and a 6 at night. Occasionally the nappy leaks (and it's a definite leak - it's literally full to bursting). She sleeps on her tummy so I don't think that helps... she does have 10oz of milk straight before bed too so I think that is probably the most likely culprit :/

Umicar · 11/01/2014 12:14

My DD is a very heavy wetter, and I sometime put an Aldi tena lady in her nappy overnight as I know moving up a size in nappy would be a mistake for her.
