DD changes her own nappy!

I'm desperate to get 3.8 year old DD out of night time pull-ups. The little madam will happily wee in it then help herself to a new one because she doesn't like to be in a wet pull-up. Any idea how I can start getting her to go to the toilet at night if she needs to?

Get rid of the pull ups, use bedmats or a water proof sheet and wake her to go to the toilet before you go to bed.

I had a waterproof sheet in DDs double bed and then a washable smaller mat on top of the sheet where she slept 90% of the time. Then I did as anotherstitch says and took her to the loo at 11ish

Pull ups are expensive!

Not looking forward to endless nights of changing a wet bed. Will go for it when the extra sheets I've ordered arrive.

Make up a double layer - sheet, waterproof and the same underneath. Saves fishing about in the night!

Bless her, cheeky thing. Can you put a light on so she can find her way to the loo? Or come and get you to help? Or a pot in her room? Agree with doubling up bed mats and sheets.

Mine - that is flipping genius. Why on earth have I never thought of that?

In the mean time you could hide the pull ups and just make it clear that she is only getting 1 per night, maybe that might deter her?

Or at least if it doesn't it means she can't just help herself.

PinkandPoo · 07/01/2014 23:40

Take the pull ups away.

Make sure she goes for a wee before bed.

Put a potty in her room for night time wees (at first, until she gets it). Explain if she needs a wee in the night she needs to use the potty.

Get a waterproof sheet.

Hope for the best.

We did this with DD and she only had 2 accidents before she got it.

I'm going to go for it next week. Will put them (twins) on the toilet before I go to bed and do the sheet / mat layering thing. We've had a light on in the toilet for the last few weeks to encourage them to use it in the nightime if they need to. On the odd occasion they have come and woken us up to take them.
