Was just wondering what people use to clean their potties.

What is the norm these days ?

Do you use a spary ?

A detol wipe ?

What is the norm ?

Ds (2.5) did his first pooh in the potty yesterday.
I thought, I must get sorted here and buy some wipes, spray etc - but not sure what.

Would appreciate advice.

Don't you need detol spray or wipes to keep it hygenic, with all the pooh ?

For poo I used my anti-bacterial kitchen spray with some kitchen roll to clean mine (after putting the poo in the toilet and wiping it round with a moist toilet wipe e.g. kandoo wipes or andrex moist wipes). For pee I just tip it in the toilet and rinse the potty with water before drying with kitchen roll.

Rinse with water for a wee, and rinse and then clean with Parazone toilet wipes for a poo, and last thing at night.

Thank you, that's what I''ll do !

wee...flush in loo
pooh...flush in loo and then wipe with flushable toilet wipe thingy (Dettox?)

jamiesam · 26/07/2006 20:32

Possibly the one useful thing I got in my Bounty bags was a sample size Dettol spray. I keep it in the bathroom and refill with kitchen anti-bact spray. Use plenty of spray and toilet paper to wipe potty clean...

Thomcat · 26/07/2006 20:34

run it under nearest tap with a bit of a spray. If organised i line pottry with a bit of paper first.

FrannyandZooey · 26/07/2006 20:35

I wipe wees with a bit of toilet paper. I wipe poos with a bit of toilet paper and then clean it out in the bath with tea tree soap.

IT'S ONLY WEE AND POO NOT TOXIC WASTE

CorrieDale · 27/07/2006 09:09

well said! If you're going to eat your dinner off it, then maybe anti-bac is the way to go. But if your child is just going to wee and pooh in it again, then wipes and sprays are a bit overboard IMO. Soap and water is all that's required. Don't get hung up about dirt! That way allergies lie....

WEE IS STERILE!!! Its been used for centuries to wash and dye clothes (among other things). There is absolutely no need to use anything other than water to rinse out a potty that has been weed in.

For poos I use soap and water and somtimes the odd drop of teatree

serenity · 28/07/2006 18:27

I don't think wee and poo are toxic, I'm just lazy. Too much faff to get out soap (which we don't have anyway)) when the toilet wipes are just sitting waiting to be used, and are flushable. I have to say I can't see the point in drying it, it's only going to get wet again, but I have (had, now) a potty chair so only clean the insert anyway.

I've got some Parazone Potty toilet wipes from our local discount shop which I use each night once ds is in bed, ready for the next day. Just wipe with toilet paper during the day.
