my 15mth ds has a bottle on my lap in his nursery. I then brush his teeth on my lap with a ready prepared toothbrush. the idea of disturbing him to take him to the bathroom afterwards might not work. is it ok to fo this or should I rinse his teeth after?

silly question I know Blush

Our dentist actually told us not to rinse at this age, as it reduces the effectiveness of the toothpaste. So I would think you don't need to go to the bathroom to do this. DD2 (currently 13 months) has her teeth brushed straight after milk just as your DS does with no rinsing. The NHS page at www.nhs.uk/Livewell/dentalhealth/Pages/Careofkidsteeth.aspx says 'Encourage them to spit out excess toothpaste but not to rinse with lots of water. '

I thought you were supposed to wait 20 mins after eating or drinking as otherwise you can brush the enamel off?

So here we give milk, then bath, pjs, then teeth and stories, bed.
