Bedtimes? Routines? Any advice?

I have a 4 month old DS. He is a reasonably good sleeper during the night. Has been since 8 weeks.

The thing is that at the moment he has no fixed bedtime. We have a routine including bath and feed but the time varies greatly.
He is not a big napper. A short nap in the morning and the evening only.
I suppose my question would be about your experience. Does/did your baby go to bed at a specific time? How did you achieve this? Should I be trying to get baby to a fixed bedtime?

My baby is 11 weeks old and has a rough bedtime of between 7:30pm and 8:30pm. It all depends on what time she is due to have her final feed of the evening. She feeds every 3-4 hours during the daytime, so her pattern through the day really determines what time we do bath, feed and bed. I think it is a good idea to have a rough plan for bedtime, but not put too much pressure on yourself for it to be the exact same time every night. I think the routine of bath, feed, bed (or however you choose to do it) is more important than the exact times.

Don't think a fixed bedtime is necessary really, if he's sleeping and moving the bedtime suits you, I wouldn't worry too much.

Have you read Baby Calming by Caroline Deacon? Its evidence based and helps you find a way that suits both you and your baby Smile
