What to do when you're poorly

This has probably been asked a thousand times but...

I have a sore throat and an ear infection. I feel dreadful & am only getting comfort when I lie on my sore ear. Is it awful to lie in bed while DC (3 & 4.5) play in their rooms? What if I nod off?

I could give them a device each for 1/2 hour but to be honest I'm saving that for if I get any worse...

ATM they're at the foot of my bed racing cars over it Hmm

Ah the hell of illness with small children to care for, you have my sympathy.

When mine were very small I tended to barricade us all in the safest room (living room in our case) and put out toys, put on Cbeebies etc. It's a matter of survival when you're ill and doing the absolute minimum so you can rest.

Apart from that, if anyone owes you a favour now it's time to call it in. Any friends or relatives who can take the load off you for a bit?

I'm boring myself. I've had painkillers & made a bed in the living room. Plus there's no nodding off with this racket :)

Thanks Tailtwister for the sympathy. I'm a bit pathetic.

When I'm ill I usually put tv on for ds, 2.8, or let him play upstairs in his room. Dd, 1.3, is more difficult as she likes to sit on or climb on me and is quite demanding at the best of times.
Looking after children, especially when they're young, is no fun at all when you're ill, you have my sympathy. Is your partner/husband (if you have one, apologies if not) able to take time off to look after them if you get worse?
