How do women even do this?

I'm sick. Baby's sick. DP is sick but obviously so much sicker than everyone else and is lying in bed dying. I'd normally take baby to mums but I go back to work from maternity on Monday and she's looking after her so I can't risk mum getting sick because I can't take time off when she's sick iykwim?

And baby has been up since 4 and will only sleep on me. I can't sleep with her in my arms and DP has 'offered' to take her but frankly if he's rushing off to be sick or coughing up his guts I'm not too keen on him watching her while I go off to sleep.

I'm not really sure what I should be doing other than sitting crying now he's gone off to the doctors?

Bless you. No advice really but didn't want to read and run. Being sick with a sick baby is horrid (how I long for the days of sleeping and reading and recovering). You don't mention how old the baby is? I would say duvet and pillows on the sofa (for you), tv/film/box set (for you) and cuddles (for baby).

Oh and if he can take himself to the doctors I'm sure he could pick you up some cake/chocolate/crisps whilst he is out.

Can you hire a sitter for a few hours so u can sleep?

weeblueberry · 03/01/2014 09:30

Thank you both. I'll try the sitting on sofa with her (she's 8 months btw :) ) but as she's at the learning to crawl stage, staying in one place for extended periods of time isn't really one of her strong points lol.

As she's so young I'm reluctant to leave her with a stranger at the moment.

I'm feeling a bit better already. I'm just feeling so damn sorry for myself because DP is 'allowed' to be sick whereas I just have to get on with it.

Hi this was me a couple of weeks ago and it was truly truly horrid. However it was only really crap for about a day then baby got better, followed by me then finally dh. Is there a friend who could just pop round with some provisions and make you a cup of tea?

Christelle2207 · 03/01/2014 09:40

Ps can you sleep side by side with baby in bed? With your arm around her? Its what we do

weeblueberry · 03/01/2014 11:08

Thanks. :)

She can sleep like that but unfortunately I can't. DP has insisted on taking her for a while for me to sleep...

Has your Mum offered to help out? She may not get sick as well. If she is happy to have DD then that is what I would do. If your Mum does end up being sick on Monday (might not even happen) then surely as it is your first day back from mat leave, DP would have to take the day off?

D

We were meant to be going to mums for dinner but she said she'd rather have the few days in the hopes DD will get better. She said if we'd like to come we could but I totally understand her reasoning.
