Stumped!!

I have a 5 1/2 month old ds and am looking for any advice re his sleep. Its not your usual problem in that he settles to sleep at 6pm sometimes later at 7pm and goes down awake but sleepy and goes off fine. Dream feed at 11 then he sleeps til 2ish after which he wakes up and wont settle back to sleep and im up and down til morning. He does doze off but then wakes and fusses etc.
So considering hes getting 8 hours at night which is fab my question is how do I get those eight hours to be later and him waking up at a more reasonable time. 5am onwards would do!! Or do I just go to bed at 6 with him and hope itll change one day
His naps are roughly 1 1/2 long and he has 3 a day.
Routine is fairly set every day and bedtime etc is always same routine.
TIA

What's he like when he wakes up at 2 am? Crying? Hungry ?

Not hungry as hes not over interested in his morning bottle. Would expect he'd be hungry at 6am when last feed at 11 but hes not really..
He just fusses but it gets worse if I leave him.. sounds like hes bored

Wonder if a late nap around 530/6 and bedtime at 730/8 would fix it?

If ds really wakes in middle if night, I get him up and pretend its daytime - lights in, playmat etc. he's then usually wrecked tired an hour later and we go back to bed like it never happened.

Dh suggested that at 10 feed we get him up and change him feed etc and give him an hour then resettle him. Not sure!! Guess it cant hurt to try

Yes, that's a pre emotive technique that often works too good luck

Try dropping dream feed? May be too much on her stomach? Was for my lo - we hust stodged her up in day instead. Its worth a wee try, so long as shes getting plenty of food in day.

Quintessentialmadonna · 02/01/2014 09:45

Is she on solids? If so baby rice and. Bottle at bedtime then leave her till morn ., as i say worked for us, but i appreciate she may be a lil young... We kinda went back and forth with the dream feed ... Its hard to know what to do isnt it!

lockie1983 · 02/01/2014 10:46

Yes, stopping the dream feed and doing a 7.30 bedtime worked for us too. Gradually his bedtime has crept forward to 6/6.30 ish and hasn't affected the nights.

He does feed 3 hourly in the day though so manages to get his fill in daylight hours.
