To move or not to move?

Looking for some helpful advice :)

(will try to make this brief)
Last year my 7 year old son was permanently excluded from school due to behaviour issues. He is a gentle, clever, lovely boy at home, but with anyone else (teachers, childminders, etc.) he is unmanageable. Had him tested (at huge expense) for just about everything, but no conclusions or diagnosis. Soooo, had to quit my FT job to homeschool him (which is going fab!) and move closer to their dad to try and get some additional money/support. After 9 months ... we have few to no friends, no family support, no assistance from dad at all, in a cheap rented house, no car, no holidays, are desperately, desperately poor as I am now on benefits instead of the well paid job I had before, and I am at my wits end on either a) reducing costs or b) increasing income.

I am considering moving to Northern Ireland (an old holiday destination pre kids), as our living expenses will reduce substantially and make finances much more bearable.... it is the only cost reducing action I can think of taking that I haven't already done! (increasing income seems impossible with a 7year old by my side 24/7 and no car)

Though I don't want to move them again, it seems that the pros outweigh the cons. Thoughts?Should I just go for it? .... :)

No, wish we did :(. We used to live in a very rural area, where friends were few and far between because of the gossip about my son's behaviour. Before that, we were in London - which is now too far and too expensive (and our London friends are kid-less)

Can you stay where you are and try and make more friends in the area by joining local clubs or chatting to mums in the playground? How about having a couple of kids to play at yours - would that be possible?
