Hello all

My 2 yo son (26 months) has recently started waking early (usually around 6, but today it was 5.25am). This has been going on for about 5 weeks. There's a couple of things which may have contributed to this - I'm 36 weeks pg and he went into a toddler bed about 8 weeks ago (though he's still in a sleeping bag).

We put a stairgate on his bedroom door and a few (quiet) toys in his room to try to keep him quiet in the mornings. We also got a "Carz" clock which changes colour when it's time to wake up (and told him to stay in his room quietly till it changes).

This doesn't seem to be making any difference.

I'm prepared to try almost anything. DD went through the same thing but I think we just left her to it. I tried that this morning but I was so tired (been up since 3.30 as baby was kicking a lot) that I ended up cuddling him and staying in his room for ages till about 6.15 when i started to do quiet returning.

I can cope w leaving him to cry (I know it's not for everyone though) I just don't know if it'll help as he seems really awake when I go in.

My dd is doing the same as did her brother before her. It's coupled with not napping well or going to bed so feels like a (very long) blip. Plus I think teeth are on the way.

If I go in and feed dd, I can usually get her back to sleep in 20 mins. That's my solution for now! She normally sleeps in until 7/7.30...

Also is it warm enough? 5 weeks sounds like the time from when it's started to get quite cold with a dip in temp in the early morning.

thegreathunt- you genius!- thank you! DH changed the heating last night so it came on earlier and DS slept till 6.30!

Thank you!

Fingers crossed it's not a fluke!!! Grin

Well, yes, there is that! But even if it is, I'm a happy woman today. And given that I'm heartily sick of being pg, I'll take any reasons to be cheerful that I can!

True! It is hard being pregnant and not getting enough sleep. I look back wistfully on the days of regular naps when pregnant with my first.

I know- though it's impossible to appreciate it at the time, you don't know you're born when pg w No1, do you?!
