How to dress 15 month girl for a wedding?

I'm taking daughter to a uni friend's wedding in Malaysia next month and her family is quite influential, so it'll be black-tie and posh. I can't find seem to find anything for my girl to wear, she had eczema as a baby and her skin very easily irritated, the hot weather over there won't help. I went to Harrods today, most of the dresses there are polyester lining (other than the VERY expensive few made of silk), and I'm concerned she'll find it uncomfortable. If she wears a cotton bodysuit underneath, the shoulder cap will show through the dress and ruin the look, and it may be too hot, not sure.

I really need some help, mums, what have you done or will you do? Any ideas where I can find softer materials occasion dress? Thanks a ton!

If you're in the uk, jojo maman bebe often do cute cotton occasion dresses.

you might try monsoon my dd had a lovely white sequinned cotton party frock from there when she was tiny and it went on and on

Buy a sleeveless vest. My dd gets a lot of mayoral stuff from relatives. It's good quality but you'd need to go to eBay for summer stuff at moment. There are lots of fab independent baby shops selling real nice stuff but it'll all be winter.

Also at the end of the day she will still look cute with sleeves poking (and inevitably be sick etc and spoil the perfect outfit).

Most of those Monsoon dresses have polyester linings too. I think the OP's baby needs cotton or cotton jersey next to her skin, and if it's hot she won't want to were a vest underneath. OP have you checked if the event is going to be indoors or outdoors? If it's indoors it's likely to be air conditioned, and may be quite cool.

For cotton dresses, would something like this or this work? Or is that too informal, and you need something more like this?

We had a very formal wedding and my nephew wore jeans, he looked perfectly smart.

Can she not just wear her normal (summer) clothes?

MummyLuce · 01/01/2014 12:04

I have 2 good ideas: . Plain cotton vest with little sleeves (m&s, gap, john lewis etc etc) with just a really cute skirt- party/tutu type skirt? No sleeve poking out issues, just one layer so very cool, only cotton next to skin. Little white company and monsoon do nice ones.

Otherwise if you want a dress, how about the brand noa noa? www.noanoa.com/en/product?skuid=2-1571-100214000
100% cotton dresses, really lovely and ideal for a wedding.

Thanks so much ladies and Happy New Year! I tried to post on here yesterday but it wouldn't let me, loads of helpful ideas, really grateful!

I've not been with my friend's family before, but Asians mind very much about how guests dress I think, being Chinese myself, haha. So I will play safe and go with formal, last link provided by nooka ticks all my boxes, yet to check out mojo maman bebe and noa noa.

Ooh, have you seen this one? All cotton and a small proportion of the cost of that silk one!

DianeWithoutE · 01/01/2014 22:53

Oh wow, GummiBear74, how did you find it? How sweet, instant buy! Thank you x

GummiBear74 · 01/01/2014 23:10

Glad to be helpful! I've shopped with them before and i get constant adverts from them on the side of my screen. As a coincidence (or perhaps something more sinister), there were pictures of party dresses there while I was reading your thread...

Did you go with pink or white?

DianeWithoutE · 01/01/2014 23:52

I put both in the shopping basket coz I can't make up my mind, will return the one that looks less good on her. I guess the pink (it looks red in the pic) will be better as she has dark hair. Will keep you posted how it goes in Malaysia!

nooka · 02/01/2014 06:30

That dress is gorgeous, lovely and simple and just right for a toddler. Especially the pink one :)

H&M sell lovely sleeveless vests. They still have the poppers on the bottom but the hem is a bit lacy like a "proper" girls vest.
