my dd is 3 weeks old today and I love her to pieces. I can't inagine being without her now. However I just feel trapped. my life now consists of feeding changing burping and rocking to sleep. I am facing the fact that this my life now. I just want an afternoon or evening to myself to go to the pub, get drunk and smoke. I just want one day to act like I did before I had dd as I have been so good since I found out I was pregnant in April.

I feel so guilty for feeling like I need space from her. she relies on me to look after her.

Haha Thurlow! This is going to sound positively mad...but once when I was feeling particularly sleep deprived in the early days and had a sore stomach I actually fantasised that I may have some minor illness which would require a couple of days in hospital so I could sleep and read books and watch TV!!

Whisper - could a friend or your dp come with you and push the buggy so you can check out some parent meet ups ? It's difficult to go to baby groups with such a little one r- remember its for you that you are getting out

But your life will really improve once you have a few friends in the area with babies - once you are feeling better they will be people to have a pint in the sunshine with! I enjoyed many pub afternoons when ds was tiny - I didn't get drunk obviously but babies are so portable an I loved just having that time off work - once I had people to enjoy it with ...

But tht takes time - the early weeks are just hard ..

When you get a chance look at local notice boards / childrens centres timetables / local nct coffee mornings on their website - and then arrange for a friend to come with yoi
