Slings and baby carriers

Hi mumsnet, I need some advice/recommendations - I'm 8 months pregnant, due 19th of Jan 2014, hopefully! I already have a 17 month old and am looking for a good baby sling/carrier. Something I can comfortably carry my new baby in while busy cleaning, cooking etc round the house. I've already got a Baby Bjorn but don't feel it's right for this particular need. Any advice would be hugely appreciated?

That Hana looks very similar to my Moby.
No, not complicated, and as a number of people have mentioned, I would put it on at home, drive/walk where we were going, and then pop baby in (baby went in pushchair when walking to toddler group, and then in sling while I chased toddler!).
The only time it was difficult to put on was in restricted spaces (ie in the drivers seat of the car) or when the ground was very muddy. I suspect I could still tie one now, and it will be over 2 years since I have tried.

I've just ordered my Hana.

They're not complicated, worth doing it first at a sling library with experts on hand to advise. The second time I tried I got it right automatically, and again when I tried a month later. And I'm really poorly coordinated!

There is some great advice on this thread so thanks for asking the question OP.

I'm going to look into a wrap.

I have an Ergo & my 3 week old loves it - it's a real life saver as I can do laundry & Hoover & he just sleeps. My sister bought me the Ergo as she used it for both her DS. She even managed to put my 3 yo nephew in to demonstrate. So I'd recommend it.

Oh another good thing about the ergo is it has some handy pockets on the front for phone, money, keys, etc! It can be used on front, hip or back.

It looks like the Hana is the only one suitable from a very small birth weight. Of course, I should probably wait until the baby is born and find out what weight it is - then could do a super quick amazon order - or I might not need a new one because they're normal weight. The Hana looks good though, and is good value. The ergo looks good, but pricey.

Oh, forgot to ask. I'm short (5'1") and had an EMCS last time so there's a chance I may have one again. Does that make a difference? Any other short mums or post CS mums used these?

And yes, thanks for starting the thread, OP! Wad going to start one anyway.

I love my ByKay. It's a stretchy wrap I bought when Ds was 3 months and I'm still using at 6 months. I found out about it at a sling library and bought it for £25 on amazon and it came with a free matching baby hat!
