Doing a wee before going out!

Any tips on how to get my dd to 'try' do a wee before we go out. Dd is 2yrs 7mths and has been potty trained for about a month. There are times when I know she needs to go just when we are going out but she won't even go and try she just holds it in for as long as she can and then normally asks to go 10 minutes or so after we've left the house.
Have been using a travel potty when we're out so I guess it's easy for her to go when she wants at the minute. She won't go on toilets when we are out and has just started going on our toilet with a toddler seat on it.
Also, I want to stop using the travel potty so should I just stop taking it with me and put up with the tears for a little while until she knows there's no choice or will that make things worse - any experience anyone?

Take a family trip to the toilet? "Let's both go to the toilet before we go out!"

Thanks, but I'm afraid I've tried that one. She once went with my Auntie (I guess 'cause it was a novelty) but that's it.

Stop taking it, and refuse to leave the house until she has sat on tghe potty, listing all the wonderfu things she is missing because she is being silly.

I always say I need the loo before we go out. DS, who is about the same age and been trained about the same time, then races me to the toilet. He thinks he has beaten me to it and sits proudly on it to do his wee before mummy can do hers!

I have just bnought a packet of jelly babies for this and other occasions when DS is being unco-operative. We were doing stickers but they seems to have lost their appeal

Unfortunately with DS he isn;t asking to go yet so not going when I ask him just results in an accident (sigh), mind you we've only been P/T for a week.

Thanks. Sounds like bribery is the way forward!

re. the travel potty - guess I'll have to take the plunge soon and just leave it.

DS -s almsot 4 and still needs a little persuasion every now and again.

We've got a small baby food jar and he gets a marble in it for every trip with dry pants. When the jar is full he gets the toy. The toy (that he has chosen previously - maybe a couple of pounds?) is sitting next to the jar in full view, luring him into the bathroom with it's siren charms

He has to walk past the bathroom to leave the house so we always win that one!

Marble taken out for any accidents though.

Thanks Bobsmum, like that one and think I'll give it a try.
