DS1 9 and DS2 6 said their dad let them watch little britain over his last night.Ive never really watched it so not sure how bad it is but feel they shouldn't watch it.
So is it ok or bad for their age?

I wouldn't - my ds's are 7 and 4 and I wouldn't let them watch it - although some children in ds1's class watch it

How old are they, jampots? I know mine would adore Southpark but I know they'd go to school singing the Uncle Fucker song and it would all go Pete Tong.

jampots · 23/07/2006 21:00

ds and dd just have a great sense of humour. Luckily neither of them go around singing or quoting from SP. Although having said that ds did ask last week "What did the Iranian gynaecologist say to the Spanish priest?" which apparently is something on Terence & Philp show and if you watch SP you'll know the response is a fart.

DS is nearly 10 and dd is 13. They are threatened with not being able to watch it if they break their silence

SminkoPinko · 23/07/2006 22:24

Ah mine are a bit younger (a v immature 7)- they absolutely share the sense of humour but have NO sense of when to keep shtum AT ALL.

Adnil11 · 24/07/2006 12:34

my son who's 9 has watched Little Britain, he loves it, to be honest he doesnt get the adult humour, he just likes all the catch phrases.

he's older cousing gave him Southpark the movie, i let him watch it, forgetting how bad it is, he wants to watch the series all the time but i wont let him, i think its just too much and compared to SP Little Britain is tame!!!!!

jampots · 24/07/2006 12:35

the SP movie is pretty bad actually I agree

cremolafoam · 24/07/2006 12:37

NONONO. recently a friend told me off for not letting dd 11 eatch it. she said her 6 year old was always saying' Im a Laydeeee' and how hysterical it was.
well habloody ha.
its not for kids

Gobbledigook · 24/07/2006 12:37

Definitely not

Twinkie1 · 24/07/2006 12:49

No I wouldn't or that bloody Catherine Tate - the notion of little ones saying 'Bovvered' to each other is quite sickening and rude.

I think I would let maybe a 15 year old watch it but only if they were responsible.

NannyL · 24/07/2006 18:03

No!!!

hulababy · 24/07/2006 18:06

No, I wouldn't. DH doesn't think it is suitable for children either. I was always suprised that parents of some of the younger secondary school age children I used to teach let them.

biglips · 24/07/2006 18:08

defo no... i wouldnt think twice about it

Piffle · 24/07/2006 18:09

No no no
My 12 yr old has seen it (with his uncle) but I was not thrilled about that at all.
And my ds is mature for his age. FWIW I am happy about him watching all Monty Python films though

LiliLaTigresse · 24/07/2006 18:20

no, definitely not
some of her friends must have been watching it though as I still remember a little boy from her class when she was 5 waiting in school for his mum chanting 'I'm the only gay in the village'
but still

LiliLaTigresse · 24/07/2006 18:21

some of dd's friends, I mean.....

louise35 · 25/07/2006 19:32

No I would not let DD watch it, it hasn't stopped her coming home saying all the phrases like "I want bitty " etc. I'm sure she has probably sneaked a quick look at it on her own TV in her room when she should have been asleep but I have never consciously allowed her to watch it even though she pesters me to death. I think its true though that the slapstick stuff tends to stick with them and the more racey adult stuff seems to go over their heads a bit.

Polgara2 · 25/07/2006 19:40

Absolutely, completely and utterly not!!! Agree about Catherine Tate but as she was on Comic Relief or Blue Peter or something, dd's keep saying "am i bovvered" etc now and I don't really like it.

bin · 25/07/2006 19:43

Absolutely, completely and utterly not here too. and the others as already said, not for kids.
