Hi.
I've not done a Santa holiday but I have been to Lapland (pre-DC). It's a lovely idea for a family holiday and don't want to put you off at all but it's really, really cold there! When I was there it was -40. When it's that cold outside it hurts to breath, hair (including eye brows/lashes) freeze after a few minutes. Frostbite is a very real consideration if you do things like dog sledding, etc.
Also, it will be dark most of the day.
Most holiday companies do packages, especially ski operators crystal, etc. prices when you are there are expensive so budget lots for spending. I think we paid around £16 for a burger, £8 for a beer, £100 per person for a meal in a nice restaurant. Where we were was quite isolated tho, a resort like Levi might be cheaper.
This sounds really negative. Sorry. We had a brilliant time there, a couple of days it was milder weather so much better for doing outdoors stuff. And we saw the Norther Lights. It was expensive but worth the money. I will go back with DC when older but just a bit too cold for very little ones.

Thank you for the reply. Il bare all in mind. Didn't realise it could reach -40 that's crazy. Prob post-pone till 2016 so my youngest will be 4.5. More time to save :-)
