Crafting / painting supplies - help!

Morning ladies!

Can anybody suggest the best place to get crafting and painting supplies. My DD is 2 and we haven't done anything other than crayoning at home. She does painting & making at nursery.

What should I get? I'm so overwhelmed by the choice - I have no idea what paints are best for her age. My friend talked about some paint brushes with big chunky handles.

Where can I get stick on stars, card, envelopes and things like that?

Thank you so much in advance Grin

If you have a hobby craft near you, then you can get masses of arty stuff for young children there. Also the early learning centre usually has an art and craft section and most big supermarkets. My 2 year old loves water painting. The company Galt do water painting books - think they're called Water Magic - which are fantastic. Basically, you just 'colour' or paint the pages with water and the picture appears - much less mess than actual paints too! We also use finger paints with chunky paintbrushes and sometimes sponge stamps. When painting, I give my daughter a really big piece of paper or even just sheets of newspaper to paint. Finally, glueing things onto paper is a real favourite. Get a chunky glue stick, and then cut out paper shapes or pictures from birthday cards, bits of ribbon, etc to stick on. HTH

Asda have a cheap and cheerful selection of craft & art supplies especially of you go to the bigger stores.

Poundland is your friend. I have a DD who, since she was 2, has never wanted to o nything else other than cutting and sticking. I find ever other place so expensive. With poundland, I don't have to be worrying over every sequin.

Can I recommend some paper plates, something to make hair and some crayons? Definitely googly eyes if you've got them. Then you canmake mobiles (she colours the plate, you cut it), monster faces, and hats (she colours it, you cut a shape within a brim eg)

Apart from pens that is, and there, Crayola is the only way to go. Really.

Amazon are much cheaper than hobby craft. We have some Melissa and Doug paint brushes, some crayola washable paint, some finger painting bowls and a roll of drawing paper fm ikea ...though lining paper would be just the same. Have a look round then order off amazon xxx

Poundland and the Works if you have one near you. Get fingerpaint- it comes off everything easily with baby wipes and large A2 size pads of paper. Glitter glue pens are great too. Stay out of hobbycraft unless you've got £££ to spend.

Thank you so much everyone for all the amazing suggestions. This is exactly what I needed :) I have a Poundland and Works locally so will see what there is there first before trying Amazon. Hobbycraft is further away and I seemed to remember it being quite pricy!

Thanks again!

What a great mum! So pleased your little girl is going to have such fun. Keep it all going where table is protected and make sure nothing harmful goes into the mouth! You are giving her a good start for nursery and school.

Just make sure the paint crayons are washable and then you don't have to worry. I accidentally bought cheap non washable the other day.

Never again
