sudden inconsolable crying

Didn't mean to write another post do quickly but

What does sudden, inconsolable crying mean? 9 wo is fine one minute and it's just awful the next... None of my tricks are working. Think he's got trapped wind and possibly a cold, he's coughed a little, has little pink eyes and relaxes only after getting rid of wind. He's crying that big wide mouthed red face barely breathing type, and he's hot (though no temp) and clammy (maybe all the exertion??) and we don't know what to do - this isn't normal for him at all. He'll just start with no warning or obvious reason, esp when being dressed /undressed. He's been 'off' for about 3 days but nothing like this. Dh's dancing him in the only thing that stops the wail

Been on to the hospital where he was born and NHS direct, nothing useful yet.

Has anyone else had this? How do you not jusy cry with them?

Didn't want to read and run, but could it be colic? I've not experienced colic so am not so helpful. Hopefully someone will be along soon who can help.

is his breathing ok? did you phone NHS Direct?

crikeybadger · 21/12/2013 20:24

Not had this before but I would be tempted to get him checked to rule out any illness.

Does a feed soothe him?
Also try tiger in the tree hold ( across your forearm)
Could he be overtired or over stimulated?

Thanks for the replies, read and started to reply but by then was on the way to hospital in an NHS direct referral. They've given us baby gaviscon, seeing if it'll work now. Just so pleased no one belittled our worrying.

We're to give this 24 hours and if it doesn't work he thinks it could be a virus Sad

Hope things get better soon, glad you got him checked out.

It is good you got him checked. Make sure you go back to doctor/NHS direct if he gets any worse. I hope the gaviscon works.
