Ds is not very burpy but struggles several times each day with wind. It wakes him up, and he needs quite a lot of position changes & distraction each time to not become full blown wailing (and even then sometimes it gets that far).

I know wind's to be expected, but watching him in pain is awful. When he finally poos, prob 2 or 3 times a day, he's visibly relaxed afterwards.

Is there anything I can do to help him? What was your experience? He's ebf, I don't eat much dairy (heard that could be something), I've not noticed any link between my food and his windiness.

Help? Thanks in advance x

Hi mustard

My dd is 10 wo and has the same issue. She is ff as I was unable to bf :(

I have found that routine really seems to help us through the day . Every morning we go for a walk in the pram and we have the same evening routine too:

bath at 6:45 for 5-10 mins (she loves her bath and cries when I get her out, but it gets too cold for her!)

7pm we have baby massage with a bit of cussons sleep tight massage oil - I rube her tummy in a clockwise motion and rub her from shoulders down to fingers then chest down to toes. This is really relaxing for her and when she has her bottle she is able to poo easily without distress.

I find she struggles a bit in the evenings on days where we haven't gone for a walk (like today for instance Xmas Sad )

I found if i drunk diet coke it seemed to affect DS, made him a bit irritable. Experiment with your diet a little (try cutting something out for a day or so) and see if you notice a difference. For me it wasnt the caffeine in coke (as i was able to drink tea) so it could have been the aspartame or additives.

Try drinking fennel tea several times during the day. This seems to have worked for me. You need a few days for it to start to take effect but my ds doesn't seem half as uncomfortable any more.
