Could washable nappies be causing night waking??

DD is 10mo and we've been using washable nappies since she was about 6mo. Had a few teething problems along the way with leaks and marks on legs but we have resolved those issues now I think.

I have taken a break from the last few weeks and reverted to disposables for a while due to various illnesses etc, and then last night put her in a Little Lamb bamboo nappy for the night.

DD is generally good at sleeping through the night, and hasn't woken at all the last week or so (she sleeps from about 7.30pm til 6am) but lo and behold, just after midnight last night she's awake! Didn't seem particularly distressed but took an hour to settle with feeding, etc.

Maybe it's just a coincidence, but was wondering if anyone else had experienced this? It just seems so odd that she woke up, and wondered if the nappy was causing her any problems. I vaguely recall this happening a few weeks ago too, and wondering then if the nappies were the cause (but like most things I soon forgot about it)

Am going back to work in the new year and desperate to maintain good sleep patterns!

We had to resort to disposables overnight in winter as she got wet then cold. Summer it isn't a problem though :)

I did a bit of an experiment last night. DD is 20 wk and usually in Little Lambs Cotton overnight. She has generally been waking once in the night, although last week this wake-up has been getting earlier and earlier, and turning into 2 wake-ups. So I put her in a Pampers babydry last night, and she didn't wake til 6:30 this morning Smile
Could just be a coincidence, but what frogs said kind of makes sense!

Ds1 didn't care if he was wet or dirty overnight in his tots bots but ds2 has never been much of a great sleeper but as soon as he could talk he would wake saying wee off wee off so at 16 months I reluctantly changed to disposable and he sleeps fine. Now at 20 months he won't wear a reusable during the day because as soon as it's wet he wants it changed but he is not quite ready for potty training. He will actually go and get me a disposable out if I have a reusable ready for nappy change!

Thanks everyone! Friday night I put DD back in a disposable nappy and... she woke up again! She's got a cold now so this may be something to do with it. Last night (saturday) she was back in a Little Lamb and woke around 2am and was impossible to settle.

So, looks like it may not have been the nappy after all, but on the other hand it feels so soggy by morning I can't imagine she's comfortable Confused

My ds is 13 months and we have a similar problem with him sometimes when he is in little lambs bamboo nappies. Sometimes he sleeps through fine but other nights he wakes and won't settle until we change his nappy. My theory is that if he wakes he then realises his nappy is wet and uncomfortable so can't settle himself. I bought a few wee notions night nappies second hand which have extra fleecy layers so they don't feel as wet against his skin. He usually sleeps through if he has a wee notions nappy on.
