Most people do an access course before getting onto the nursing course as a mature student, but recent study (within the past 5 years) might be ok, there are people on my course who only have GCSEs. Good luck.

I got on my course with A'Levels I think? (I have a degree as well so they didn't bother much with the academics)

I did the old Project 2000 diploma course which has now developed into a degree course (totally the way nursing is going) and so out of interest I have done a degree post grad in palliative nursing once I knew I was sure where I was heading with my career. It is a lot of work but is certainly worth it in the end when you get to where you want to be!!

If i decided to complete an access course, do you do placement then, or is it only in uni (I live in south wales btw)

Snap jofeb04, I think you only do placements on the actual degree course, not on the access course. I didn't do the access course myself but I am told it is the best way to get in to nursing as the universities (particularly cardiff) cherrypick students from the access course. hth
