Is the Disney film Frozen scary in any way?

Hi, we would like to take my nearly 9 year old daughter with SEN's to see this, but noticed it's a PG. She is a real scaredy-cat and was very scared of the film Brave, when the bears were fighting. She's never wanted to watch it again.
Is there anything like that in this film? She doesn't mind a bit of comedy violence like in Rapunzel, but that's about it.
Thanks. Smile

Oh, I can help! We saw it yesterday. There are2 bits that might be a bit scary - one when some wolves are chasing them, doesn't last very long. Then a bit with a giant scary snowman chasing them, that bit lasts a bit longer. Dd age 2 was ok with it and very 'focused' on the big snowman, she likes scary things she says Hmm

I haven't seen brave so can't compare but hope that's helpful Smile

My dd (suspected sen and age 6) cried when it looked like anna would die. She was also scared off the snowman. For comparison she also cried at brave. Her 6 yr old friend was totally fine

Oh thank you! Smile I think we'll give it a try. She can always close her eyes if it gets too much. Grin

I've only seen the first 20 mins. In the opening sequence one of the girls nearly kills her sister with her freezing super powers. The child (year 7 also with SEN) was distressed by this so we changed to a different film (we were watching it on the internet). Morally questionable perhaps but the cinema is too expensive to risk with this child as he finds almost everything too scary but really really wants to go so we trial run things first!

I could pm you the link and perhaps you could show her the bear and snowman bits at home? (We didn't get that far....)

Less scary than Brave, I would say. Hope she enjoys it.

Thanks everyone. She loved it!! Grin So did I actually. She's asked for it for Christmas and was really disappointed to hear that it wouldn't be out to buy until easter.

She can watch lots of clips on you tube though now as you can actually watch the movie online on several sites!

:) glad to hear she liked it. My dd gets very excited whenever the advert for it comes on tv now!

Ah thanks for this - DS is keen but also has SEN and we had to leave the cinema during Brave and the Smurfs II!

Good idea re checking out clips on youtube - he's seen a trailer which he's keen on but running the scary bits past him first might work (especially if he knows they're fairly early on)

jamtoast where online might one watch it, if so inclined?

I would say the scary bits are no scarier than those in any Disney movie, they always have a scary scene at some point. I personally found the film a bit dull, and didn't much care for the plot or the characters, but I wouldn't say it was especially scary going by the average Disney film.
